Brief info
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1983, and I am deeply committed to supporting the emotional growth and personal development of adults experiencing significant life changes and emotional challenges. I specialize in providing telehealth counseling and assessment services. Through my 50 years of life work as a counselor, professor of psychology and human development, and educational researcher, I know my clients need empathy, science, reason, action, and hope to help them overcome depression, anxiety, pain, and trauma disrupting their lives. People want to thrive and live a life of meaningful relationships.
I have experience working with veterans, healthcare professionals, college students, teachers, individuals, couples, and parents facing child-rearing challenges. I work with individuals dealing with issues such as separation, divorce, illness, and grief. I have experience assessing and coaching adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Since 2024, I have conducted behavioral assessments for individuals to determine their eligibility for treatment with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy or Spravato Therapy.
I have undergraduate and master’s degrees in counseling from the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University and a doctorate in Education with an emphasis in college level teaching of psychology from East Texas A&M University.
I have a background in Client Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, and Gestalt Therapies. In my therapeutic work, I focus on helping clients explore and gain insight into their unique life situations, and together we create an action plan to increase self-direction, empowerment, strength, personal responsibility, independent thinking, resiliency, and emotional health.
